Love is not just a word we say to express what we feel for one another. It has hidden aspects that must be respected for it to flourish among us. One might think that if we love each other, these aspects shouldn’t exist and that love should overcome them. Unfortunately, it is precisely because of love that these aspects are so important. The key thing to remember is that we do not exist within love; love exists within us. This is why the human factor plays a crucial role in how we love.

The Test

We test everything in life to verify its sincerity, and love is no exception. This process is beyond our control, as it is natural for human beings to want to be sure that what they believe in truly exists. No matter how long we have known someone or how deeply we love them, we constantly seek reassurance that they still feel the same way about us. Without realizing it, we put our loved ones to the test. We subtly push them and allow our instincts to take over. Our deep desire is for them to do what it takes to reassure us of our importance in their lives. Even in the smallest gestures, we evaluate the love the other person has for us. This silent test is a way of confirming that the person we have chosen to cherish loves us as much as we love them.

The Unspoken Words

Pride plays a significant role in love, sometimes leading us to hide certain truths. This does not mean we do not love each other, but rather that we seek a sense of balance. This phenomenon is even more evident in long-term relationships. No one wants to feel entirely dependent on another human being, as this could be perceived as a weakness. Over time, we may eventually express the truth, but most of the time, we prefer to use other ways to show our love without appearing vulnerable. Ideally, love should overcome this barrier. Yet, we often avoid using words that expose us and instead choose words that seem more rational and thoughtful. Love must come with humility but also honesty. It is crucial to recognize this weakness within ourselves and do what is necessary to overcome it.

Arguments

Disagreements are an essential part of love. One might wonder why two people who love each other would argue. In reality, these confrontations are necessary to strengthen their bond. Arguments are not meant to demoralize the other person or end a relationship. Instead, they help take a step back and learn how to solve problems together. A couple that can go through conflicts without questioning their love has a strong relationship. True love is the one that surpasses differences. If, after an argument, two people still feel deeply connected and sincere toward each other, then their love is real.

Time

Time is often underestimated in love. We tend to believe that once we love someone, everything will naturally fall into place. We wrongly assume that love alone is enough to overcome all challenges. In reality, love needs time to grow and fully develop. Saying "I love you" does not mean love has reached maturity; it simply means we have accepted its presence within us. True love is measured by its duration. If, after many years, we can still declare our love with conviction, then it has evolved and reached its full potential. Time is a hidden factor in love because we often forget that it is a key element in strengthening our feelings.
